From the very beginning of Campaign 4, new Dungeon Master the talented storyteller has maintained audience suspense with deep backstory, a wide array of heroes, and a gripping narrative showcasing angels, fiends, and malevolent powers expanding in power within the city.
Warning: Revealing details for the third episode of the new season follow below.
The Combat-Oriented Party Introduced
The third episode ended with a major cliffhanger and presented the premier party of adventurers who will branch out from the central cast to begin their own adventure, separate from the remaining groups.
The Soldiers table consists of the determined fighter (played by Travis Willingham), Thimble (the talented performer), the strong-willed figure (the cast member), Wicander (the player), and Kattigan (the actor).
Dividing the Cast
With an extensive roster, it was evident from the beginning that maintaining everyone at a single group would be unworkable.
This explains, the first four episodes of Campaign 4 serve as an Introduction, connecting the characters’ stories before branching into three distinct groups: Fighters, Strategists, and Seekers.
The Nature of the Warrior Group
As described by the Dungeon Master, the Soldiers table is for players who are drawn to a classically intense fight-heavy narrative style where diplomatic options are few and far between.
At first glance, characters like the squeamish cleric Wicander Halovar might look mismatched, but the events of the latest installment make it clear why these particular heroes are best suited for the warrior group.
Motivations for Departure
For one thing, the party understands precisely where to proceed after a violent opening clash with The Crow Keepers.
An old friend of Thjazi—whose death kicked off the story’s plot—used The Crow Keepers for his personal gain, breaking into the secret base, assaulting Thimble, and taking all the magical artifacts to auction.
The traitor then settled his liabilities and ran away to a Halovar stronghouse in the remote area, north of the urban center, with Cyd hot on his heels.
Personal Motivations
Secondly, each adventurer has a specific drive to leave the city Dol-Makjar:
- The rogue, as Thjazi’s partner and trusted friend, wants vengeance.
- The adventurer has experience in the northern area and advises that it is a hostile environment.
- The warrior and The healer, having defied his relatives’ demands to eliminate the target and instead saved him, have no other options.
- Yet, their position as important members in the influential clan could help the group reach places they typically wouldn’t be able to.
- Moreover, The fighter pledged a eternal obligation to Wicander for his rescue and will now follow him everywhere.
Wanted and Hunted
Lastly, all of them are wanted by the rulers that rule Dol-Makjar for a multiple motives, making lingering locally no longer safe:
- The agile adventurer and Kattigan are notorious outlaws.
- The warrior and The cleric defied the powerful family and the horde of evil beings they are allied with.
- The fighter is wanted dead by the family.
This means them little choice but to travel to the northern region in search of the traitor.
