A revitalized Medvedev won his maiden title for nearly 30 months with a win over Corentin Moutet in the tournament title decider.

The Russian, a ex- number one, has experienced a difficult year, winning just one match at the major tournaments and suffering a difficult moment at the American major.

Medvedev's inconsistency on the tennis tour - and struggles with his serve in specific - led to him exiting of the top ten and finally parting ways with long-time trainer his previous coach.

Presently working with his coach and Rohan Goetzke, he has consistently advanced in the last few weeks - climaxing in a closely contested competitive victory over Frenchman Corentin Moutet.

This represents Medvedev's initial trophy following the Italian tournament and initial on a hardcourt since spring of the previous year.

The win also indicates Medvedev has won twenty-one championships at twenty-one different tournaments.

"This marks the first occasion I have attended a tournament with my children at once, so to secure a trophy is particularly special," commented world number 14 Medvedev.

"This victory is in honour of my younger daughter Victoria, because the maiden victory I got when my first daughter her name was delivered was for her."

The athlete, the 2021 US Open champion, had lost his past six championship matches, comprising in that event in the past months.

Medvedev's retrieving strategy and frequent reactions on the playing surface had caused commentators to wonder if his ability to play at the elite level was concluded.

But the player has altered his approach in recent weeks, striving to advance forward and compete positively, backed up by an improved service.

Medvedev fought back from a break down in the initial set against the challenging opponent, winning four of the final five points to go ahead.

The competitors exchanged service breaks in the following set before Moutet, attempting for his maiden ATP Tour title, seized the initiative to push for a third set.

Moutet defended 4 early-game break points in a tight deciding set before the Russian won the break to that score to close out the victory.

Suitably, Medvedev earned the win with a point at the net area, with the Frenchman incapable to manage a return after a lengthy match.
