Hazbin Hotel's Showrunner Has Seen Fans' Second Season Bingo Cards — With Some Good News

The highly-awaited second season of the musical adult cartoon Hazbin Hotel debuts on Prime Video this week, and audience theories has been widespread.

The first season presents a large cast of characters living within the afterlife, pits them against each other accompanied by musical numbers about their clashes, and builds heated competitions and angsty, affectionate connections that fuel fan obsession.

The community's expectations for the new season vary widely, but certain threads recur frequently: Will a fan-favorite character break free from Valentino? Will we find out more about the mysterious "deal" constraining Alastor the Radio Demon? Might certain characters' relationships evolve?

"Naturally, I don't produce the show with fan service specifically in mind," the showrunner commented recently. "But I feel like me being a fan of my own show implies there's a lot of it just inherently. I also am eager for these things, and I hope some of these things to occur, and clearly some of these things are meant to happen in the show!"

She reveals her big-picture plan is for five seasons of Hazbin Hotel. Seasons 3 and 4 have received approval by Prime Video and A24, which produce the series.

That might mean viewers have to be patient for some of the major resolutions — but they could be shocked at how fast the new season progresses, and how much of what they're waiting for unfolds now.

"I feel like people are going to get a lot out of it," the creator notes. "We get some firsts. I think we get some really amazing reveals, some fascinating backstories, and even just simple things, [like] I hope this character gets a song. […] Audiences will experience much more singing from the characters we didn't get to hear before."

The creator is well-informed of the guesses and hopes about the upcoming season — especially in the form of audience prediction charts.

"I've come across a couple people make a bingo card about the new season," she mentions. "Naturally I won't share it, but I've actually done some of them, and nearly every one of them have almost a bingo. I was like, Oh, if you put this [event] in this spot, it would be a bingo. So that makes me think we accomplish much [of what fans are waiting for in this season], because I realized, Oh, there's multiple potential bingos on this card. So that brings me joy."

Hazbin Hotel season 2 premieres on the streaming service on Oct. 29.
