Approximately fifty cars have been covered with what seems to be human bodily fluid in the German town of Hanau in proximity to Frankfurt, according to law enforcement.
Cars, building surfaces and postal boxes were vandalized, sometimes with swastikas, they reported in a statement.
Law enforcement report they were alerted late on Wednesday night, when a individual noticed that a car in the Lamboy area of Hanau had been marked with a red-colored liquid.
The substance had been drawn in the pattern of a Nazi symbol, they stated.
Law enforcement then discovered many other smeared cars and house walls in the surrounding area.
These symbols are illegal in Germany under legislation prohibiting the public display of symbols from the Nazi era.
Police say early analysis show the substance was most likely human bodily fluid.
"Currently there is no indication as to its source; officials are presently not cognizant of any injuries in connection with the event," they commented.
Municipal representatives announced they were attempting "to unravel the case" and have appealed to the community for information.
An important representative commented the attack left him stunned and required to be resolved rapidly.
"This event hits the very heart of Hanau and reopens the pain of the extremist attack in 2020," he wrote on online, referring to the death of nine victims by a shooter aiming at individuals of migrant background in 2020.
